Artist info/About me
Hello!
My name is Colin Cox and I'm an emerging artist born in Cleveland, Ohio, in October 1995. I have created all of my life, from making music, painting and drawing in school and home, to giving my shot at designing and producing clothing. Growing up, I was a happy kid with a rough life but that wasn't rare by any means in my circle or community. I would spend and live each day to fullest, loving art, cartoons, music, getting dirty adventuring and skateboarding. My mother was married to a man in the navy so this caused us to move quite often, while it was easy for me to make friends i never got to attached and thus i further dove into the realm of art and creation, finding comfort in that.
My early and mid 20's where filled with memories and mistakes. A lot of lessons learned and life lived in a short amount of time, I had stopped making any type of art and got drowned out and burnt by the rat race. By the time i was 28 I had lost everything that meant anything to me including myself, when i stopped creating my life stopped with it. 2024 was one of the most traumatic years I've experienced and I was at the lowest point September. I decided no more, i packed what i could and hit the road, making my way back home to Lakewood eventually. The sleepless nights and anxiety turned into a fear I never want to experience again.
Being back in Lakewood I felt at home and connected to a community I once was raised in. I decided to use my determination to change my outlook and make sure not only I, but anyone i can help, to see there is a life worth living and the world needs you to create now more then ever. Funkwork Studio was founded and created based off of that, an emphasis on mental health and the spark of creativity in ALL of us, however that looks!
Funnkwork Studio is a creative space, community and brand that represents and will grow into those premises. You are unique and you are needed, loved and cherished. I will be putting out original artwork, home décor and clothing, accepting commissions/customs as well to make your awesome ideas come to life! Things like fluid art, line drawings, acrylic and oil paintings, tufted rugs, dishware, lighting, clothing, seasonal and limited releases and customs for anything you could think up!
I want to thank you from the from the bottom of my heart for being apart of this vision and mindset. Thank you for looking!
